The Afromexican School is a proposal of decentralized popular education. We seek to enhance critical thought with afro centric mentors thus, our students could know the dissemination and incidence work of some Afrodescendant educators from Mexico and other countries of Latin America. One of the main objectives of Afromexican School is to strengthen and accompany the self-recognition process.

The CEATembembe has a very valuable and important knowledge to boost and empower people, particularly, to continue my identity process and projects that I want to realize in the future.
Norely López Peralta
The classes were very enriching, the activities that we realized helped me a lot to know more about the history and to also know my ancestors. I liked the classes so much and I learned a lot from my teachers and classmates.

Being part of Afromexican School from The Tembembe Center of Afromexican Studies, gave me the skills to expand my experience on activism, creation of decolonial narratives and overall, to strengthen my identity. I’m sincerely grateful for the opportunity to join with more black people, allowing me to know and learn about the multiple realities of my own country. Classes with different people also have an amazing value, because they are capable of powerful aspects in a variety of themes. Being in the Afromexican School gave me a deep look to design my own projects from sentipensar (those stuff of art) and could reinforce my self position of not still reproducing ideas, techniques and actions that are part of an eurocentric, white and racists realities.
